Day 90

Steph the extraordinary Canadian teacher committed to implementing a new health and nutrition system in schools around the world!

Thoughts:

Steph Here! I have been following Liana’s journey and have found it to be extremely beneficial. I have always been committed to my health and nutrition and I believe there are many levels one can experience. I was raised by a nurse and brought up to believe that following the Food Pyramid designed by the government was the healthiest one can be. However, after investigating health further, I have discovered that there are many chemicals, preservatives, additives, and hormones present in most of the food available in grocery stores today. Even the foods you think are healthy have been heavily processed before they reach our table. The Earth Diet has inspired me to take on the philosophy of going ‘back to basics’ where all chemicals are eliminated from my diet. The results are absolutely amazing! I feel happy, alert and energetic. Life is so exciting! I do not have an emotional attachment to food and feel like I HAVE to have something. I do not think about food and what I am going to eat next throughout the day. I have more energy to focus on the things that really matter to me. I’m high on life rather than high on addictive chemicals in food!!

Being a primary school teacher, I have learned about how these chemicals in our foods are affecting young people’s behaviour and learning. Conditions like ADHD and many learning difficulties have been directly linked to these chemicals and symptoms are drastically reduced when these chemicals are removed from children’s diets. If you investigate this level of health further, you will find evidence to support these findings.

As a society, we need to wake up and realize that the convenient way of living that has taken over our lives is affecting our health and ability to function. Our children are being poisoned. It is time we all consider going ‘back to basics’ with our food and eat what the earth provides without tampering with it in order to have it last longer and easier to eat while on-the-run. We have lost sight of where we live and what surrounds us. We have foods that are seasonal and are meant to eat when they are available, not because they are shipped to us. We have become very indulgent with food and use it for other purposes rather than fuel to survive. We are the only species that add heat to our food; and why?? So it tastes better. Consider it already tastes perfect just the way it is. We have lost sight of eating to survive and nourish our bodies. We eat for emotional reasons. For example traditions, celebrations, cultures, comfort, etc. We have been raised to believe that what the government provides us is nutritious and good for us. Look beyond the system and see what really is. It will shock you but change the quality of your life dramatically!

I could keep going on and on. The bottom line for me is that Health and nutrition is experienced on many different levels. We have lost sight of the basics around nutrition because of our busy lifestyles. I recommend you do some investigating yourselves and you will see how far we have gone off track. Liana you are extraordinary for taking this on, especially in a society that does not understand the level of health that you are at. Keep going girl and the rest will wake up soon!!!
