Baking soda costs less than $3 at the supermarket or drug store. When purchasing make sure the only ingredient is 'baking soda' and no other ingredient. Sometimes they can put aluminum in it which is no good.
To get white teeth do this:
After brushing your teeth (hopefully with a natural and organic chemical-free toothpaste), dip your brush into baking soda so half a teaspoon is heaped on your tooth brush. Then put it in your mouth and start buffing your teeth in circles like a car wash. This polishes your teeth. Do this every day for at least 2 weeks until you notice that your teeth are whiter. If your teeth and gums start to ache because the baking soda may be abrasive, take a few days off and then start again.
I use baking soda periodically throughout each year. I will use it for a couple weeks then take a couple weeks off. You can also use it every other day for another variation. I always have white teeth and people are always commenting on them. I always tell people it costs less than a few dollars, and we don't need to put our bodies through intense bleaching and chemicals with whiteners. Sorry dentists this kind of blog may result in less business for teeth whitening for you, but at least people are having better health because of it!
Whats in regular teeth whitening strips or bleaching when you go to the dentist?
Calprox (which includes baking soda and 16 other ingredients)
Sodium Monoflurophosphate (fluoride)
Why put all of those chemicals into our bodies if we don't need to???!!! Do some research on these chemicals if you want to know more about them. Look at how they are made and what they can do to the body. Let's just look at one of the ingredients in teeth whitening; floruide, this alone has proven to be suspect and many articles have been written on it. Check out Natural News article here: how to protect your family from it. http://www.naturalnews.com/040461_fluoride_IAOMT_oral_medicine.html
Where does baking soda come from? (From wikipedia)
The ancient Egyptians used natural deposits of natron, a mixture consisting mostly ofsodium carbonate decahydrate, and sodium bicarbonate. The natron was used as a cleansing agent like soap.
It has weak disinfectant properties.
Sodium bicarbonate, referred to as "baking soda" is primarily used in cooking (baking), as a leavening agent. It reacts with acidic components in batters, releasing carbon dioxide, which causes expansion of the batter and forms the characteristic texture and grain in pancakes, cakes, quick breads, soda bread, and other baked and fried foods.
Sodium bicarbonate mixed with water can be used as an antacid to treat acid indigestion and heartburn. It is used as the medicinal ingredient in gripe water for infants.
