Day 10

Thoughts: Chicken. I'm not a vegetarian but I hadn't had meat for 9 days, and today I really felt like eating some chicken so I suggested to mum that we have it for dinner! She screwed up her face like ewwww! And said she didn't like eating it because of all the hormones they pump in the chicken, and mum didn't realize you could buy free range organic chicken breast! Obviously back in her day things were a lot healthier and not as face paced as today, so they didn't need to pump the chickens with hormones to make them grow fast to mass produce for our demanding consumers of today. Well we went to the super market and got some (organic butchers is the best place to get it) and we had chicken thighs, and they tasted so fresh and so clean And healthy. You know you can really taste the difference. Compare them for yourself. Yeah you may pay a few extra dollars, but when it comes to your body there is no cutting costs or corners. Buying regular chicken may save ya some dollars today but it's not worth pumping yourself with all those chemicals and hormones and be worse off later on. If you don't really know what goes on with regular chickens you can research it on the net, there are some gruesome videos and photos out there, and the farmers actually torture the chickens buy keeping them trapped in cages for their ENTIRE LIFE SPAN feeding them growth hormones so they pump out the eggs and grow 3 times as fast. It comes down to making money, fast! So the chickens are tortured, and you know how when you stress your muscles tense up, well it's the same with the chickens, and you eating an animal that was suffering, tortured meat.

Challenges: I experienced tiredness today, maybe it's because I woke at 5am for a 2 hour 15km bike ride through mountains (hehe) or that my body is adjusting to no processed foods, no chemicals and no sugar. I feel like my body is ridding toxins as I sometimes feel foggy in my ears, and head, and my eyes sting. Today was the first time I really thought mmmm nandos, mmmm chocolate, mmmm icecream, mmmm lollies. Did I really commit to this for 1 year?!?! Do you think I will be able to do it? The thing is I think I was hungry so all these foods were appealing to me! Because I was so excited to go to the shop and buy dried apricots, and guess what?!?! I looked at the ingredients list and they contain 1.apricots and 2.sulphur dioxide 202! Haha yep so no more dried apricots, oh how I loved them! Hehe! But guess what then I thought well I could buy a food dryer and dry them myself! Wool I'm so excited to make food from scratch! I feel so connected to it and so much love for my body and the food!

Triumphs: I was In the supermarket today and saw a packet of gummi lollies mmmm I used to love eating these, I didn't love the guilt I felt after though! So I picked up the packet and read the ingredients content (because for a dumb moment I thought can I make lollies from scratch? Hehe) (the answer is no by the way) and I read "pork gelatin" ewwwww! I'm not exactly sure what pork gellatin is but I sure am glad I'm not eating that any more! There have been soooo many tines when I have eaten processed foods and lollies and not even thought about what is going into my mouth! No wonder so many people these days are overweight, dying, have cancer, acne, organ problems and are just so sick! Anything you can't make from scratch stay away from! Obviously lollies have too many mad made chemicals to be made born from the earth! When your eating something just think "does this look like it was born out of the earth?did it come fronm a plant?a tree?the ground?the lands or ocean?". The only place gummi bears are born is the land of willy wonka!

What I Ate Today:

Breakfast: bowl of boiled oats and almonds (I had a big breakfast because I went for a 2 hour cycle!)

Lunch: raw cashews and pineapple

Dinner: I cooked dinner for my mum and I tonight and it was scrumptious! It was organic free range chicken breast with a tomato basil sauce that contained tomato, egg plant and Zucinni! And advocado on the side! Mmmm and totally born from the earth!

Dessert: No dessert

Recipe: Ingredients: one onion. One clove of garlic. 3 tomatoes. 1/4 cup water. Fresh basil herbs. 1/2 an egg plant. 1/2 a zucchini. 2 chicken breast. One avocado optional. Serves 2. Directions: Chop a brown onion. Chop garlic. Add garlic and onion to a fry pan and cook in olive oil. Dice 3 tomatoes and add to onion and garlic once golden. Never burn your onion or garlic it will put a horrible taste through the whole dish! Next add diced zuccinni and egg plant and 4 fresh basil leaves. Finally add 1/4 cup water. Fry your Organic freerange chicken breast/thighs in olive oil or water (however you prefer to cook it).Bring your tomato sauce to the boil and then allow the sauce to thicken. Let it simmer for 15 minutes or until the veggies become soft. Once chicken is cooked and sauce is lookin beautiful serve! Perfect! Oh and add advocado on the side, I find it compliments this dish so well!
